What are the kickers?

Uptime has been amazing for us and of course, the great customer service.

I prefer a local web hosting company since I have a colocation. I also prefer to speak French. They have great prices too.

For me it's the prices, the generous bandwidth allocations for dedicated servers, and the good quality network and datacenter infrastructure.

These folks know what they are doing. They aren't Larry, Curly and Moe tripping over power cords and stuff :P

Right now I've just got a minimal server and I'm not doing very much with it, but when the time comes that I need another server, it'll be right here at iweb.

I have not yet had anything to complain about.

Agreed, Last month I knew as going to be HUGE for my site. My server manager 9Yves) upgraded to port to a 100Mbps line for free (which I was surprised) and I think I hit around 1.7TB of bandwidth last month, still below my limit of 2TB, but it was the busiest month in my site's history.

You tell me where I can find that much bandwidth for only $99/month...

And, can't forget the great uptime...

In all fairness, 90% of the downtimes in those stats are due to me switching over DNS's, but hey still not bad. ;)

jmweb, why your posts are always ....why you're with iWeb ?

For us, it is reliability and general comfort level with the staff/management. We mainly look at how they plan their expansions and so far they've done good. Other hosting companies like TP and EV1 have done poor expansion plans and ended up with a mess.

I'm about a month away from my two-year anniversary with iWeb.

I have to say that what little contact I've had with sales and support has been nearly 100% positive. No, not positive -- brilliantly fantastic.

But I haven't gotten to know anyone at iWeb very well, even after two years - unlike previous providers - simply because they're rock solid reliable.

In two years, I can remember experiencing one outage, just a few minutes.

In fact, I was handed off to another account manager..... I think it was about a year or so ago -- I don't recall, because I hadn't spoken with my original manager (Jean Luc) basically since the server was initially set up. Recently, my second account manager was leaving -- I'd never talked with him. Nothing personal, I just never ever had a need.

In the past few months, I transitioned from my original server plus a backup server to one faster server. The process was painless. Well, the troubles I *did* have were standard troubles when you do a project like that.. heh. But iWeb made it easy. I ordered the new server, and cancelled the old, and as a courtesy they gave me a few days to migrate.

It's gotten to the point now where I can't even imagine going somewhere else for any service that iWeb offers. This is truly a "Cadillac"-service company.

In fact, I really wish they'd hurry up on the domain service, because I've had a couple of problems with my current registrar, and I've been eager to switch all of my domains over here to iWeb -- but, I'm being patient simply because I know when they get it ready, it'll be rock solid too. :-)

Same here, I'm about a month away from 2 years of dealing with Iweb.

In that time, I've never had to contact support. That's most significant to me :)

I'm wondering, from your first post, whether you're expecting something you're not paying for. If my server goes down, it's my responsibility to fix it.

Your alleged experiences do not mesh with mine, however, and I would also note that WebHostingTalk, a place notorious for complainers to complain at, is also a bit sparse on the iWeb-complaints side as opposed to the iWeb-praise side.

And what's my motivation for writing this? I have no financial motivation - I just think iWeb is great, and I would hope people would review all available information before going with a web host, and I believe this comment will help with that. YMMV, as you say it does.

...but my further question is: If iWeb sucks, why are you still with them?

too funny

Postby chuckb on Sun Oct 21, 2007 2:07 pm

first off, yes we pay for support that we are not getting. second, we are still with these assholes cause i have a one year contract with them, and we dont have the time to move everything off the server and onto another one located elsewhere.

whats so funny about u assholes, is that u can spend the time making remarks about my complaints, but u wont spend the time to fix my server. For the retards, one more time, my server becomes unreachable 2 -4 times each week with no record in the server logs. the only guess is that its getting blue screens and the assholes at iweb will not investigate the problem unless the server goes down during their normal business hours LOL OMG WTF. now, if u try to define that as good service, you're a complete f**ktard.

Of course with a post like that they will fix your server right away.

Giving shit to someone will never help your case, but of course this will make you feel better... so now you're a happy fellow with a server going down 2-4 times a week LOL

Right.

I think it's clear by your post who the professionals are and aren't.
